Preschool and 18th Month Checkup

This week McKenna started in the 4's class at her preschool. There were lots of familar faces in the room and one of the teachers is the same that Anna had, so she just waltz into the room, started chatting with old friends, made a couple of new ones and settled right in. I forced her to give me a kiss before I left and watched outside the one-way glass for a few minutes. When I realized that she really didn't care that I had left, I dried MY tears and headed off to run errands. I took the day off of work to get some stuff done and then took McKenna out for lunch for a little Mommy and McKenna time. It was really nice and we had a great afternoon. She is in school 4 days a week this year, and will also start a reading class tomorrow.

Anna is having a little bit of a rough time with reading this year. She gets very easily frustrated and doesn't like trying to sound words out. I have spoken with her teacher and while she isn't behind according to the grade level diagnostics, we are still considering tutoring since I really don't want her to struggle with this at all. I will keep you posted on her progress.

On Friday, McKenna and I took Ava for her 18 month checkup. Ava is in the typical 'I hate the Dr. office' phase for this age and screams everytime the dr. comes near her. You would have thought I was making her walk across hot coals to hear the commotion when she had to stand on the scale! Everything checked out great and she didn't even have to get any shots, which isn't really great because that means she didn't get her flu shot. McKenna was able to take the flu mist and Anna will be going this week (if I can figure out a time to take her) and I am hoping that when I call tomorrow the dr. will have a shot available for Ava.
