It’s Official

As of today, McKenna is officially registered in Kindergarten.  She wanted to know if she got to start tomorrow, she was disappointed to find out that she has to wait until August.  We won’t find out until August who her teacher will be and I don’t have any preference at the moment.  I do hope it is someone that McKenna feels comfortable with, and that she believes in.  According to a conversation we had recently, she doesn’t think her preschool teacher is all that bright.  She asked me if ants can fly, and I said that some of them can.  She replied ‘Miss F. said they couldn’t – but she isn’t very smart.’  I quickly looked it up to make sure that ants can fly, and apparently, I am smarter than the preschool teacher :)  Some teacher is going to be thrilled to have McKenna next year!

Where have you been hiding?

So winter in Teas was pretty long this year.  We have had record snowfalls into March and my feet have been in hiding for quite some time.  Yesterday was another Saturday filled with soccer and, for the first time in awhile, lots and lots of sunshine.  I come from a long line of very pale people, and while my daughters seem to have gotten a little of the olive skin tone, we are all still pretty pale.  With that being said, I will give you 1 guess as to what kind of shoes I wore on Saturday…

If you guessed flip-flops, you are correct!  luckily, it was just my feet that got the brunt of the sun.  Now I just have to figure out how to convince my boss that I can’t wear anything other than flip flops to the office!

After soccer games, we had another sleep over at the house.  This time, Caitlin and Kennedy came over and we were told this would be a common occurrence over the summer.  They all did really well – a few tears and disagreements, but we had 5 girls (yes, Ava is now included in the count since she is right in the middle of it all) running and playing, so there has to be a little drama!  We took some pictures and then made scrapbook pages.  Each girl had the choice of serious or silly.  I thought they were both cute!

Another successful weekend and sleepover.  Preview for next weekend: Isbell Carnival, 2 soccer games, 1 softball game and 4 birthday parties – I am exhausted just thinking about it!  Have a great week :)

Happy Easter!

All in all it was a pretty good Easter weekend.  We started Saturday out with softball and soccer.  Anna and Ava got to go to their great-grandparents place for lunch and an Easter Egg Hunt (McKenna and I had a soccer game).  They had a great time and Anna found the golden egg again this year.  The reward was a huge package of Pez, so all the girls were thrilled.

Our friend, Ashley, gave us a really neat recipe for Easter cookies that you make and read scripture passages for each of the steps.  It tells the story of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection.  You leave the cookies over night and when you open the tomb (the oven) and take a bite of the cookie, it is hollow inside to parallel the tomb being empty Easter morning.  The idea was really neat, and the girls enjoyed the whole process and reading the Bible, but our cookies didn’t actually turn out correctly.  You are supposed to beat the egg whites for 15 minutes, until they are stiff, but ours never really got stiff, and I beat those egg whites for much longer than 15 minutes.  Oh well, I still think the girls got the idea and we will try it again next year!

On Sunday, we went to Mass with several hundred other people.  We stood because we got there just before the service started.  The girls were doing really well until Ava asked to be picked up.  Then she tells me, in a very loud voice, ‘I poop! I poop!’.  That got the attention of several people around us.  Luckily, she hadn’t actually pooped, so it was all good, but still slightly embarrassing!

My mom was going to join us at Patrick’s parents house for dinner, but she had a little incident with my sister’s dog, so she ended up staying home.  After that excitement, we headed over for dinner.  The girls had another egg hunt, where they follow clues around the house and find a huge, golden egg.

We had lots of fun and the girls are still enjoying a chocolate high, but have been pretty good about asking for candy.  We hope you enjoyed your Easter weekend!

1st Softball game and Easter Egg Hunt

Anna and McKenna are playing on the same softball team, Flower Power!  It is made up of several girls from their school, and Kelly and I are coaching this team as well as the Pixies (Maddie and Abbie are on the team as well).  Anna was the first batter and this is her as she made it to 3rd base!

Here is McKenna sliding into home plate.  Do not be fooled into thinking she needed to slide or that she did it on purpose, but it looks pretty cute :-)

Ava is obsessed with money right now.  Luckily, she is excited if she gets a penny, so that is what we will stick with!

Since we have started softball, our weekends are pretty packed – normally we have 2 soccer games and 1 softball game so we do a lot of running around.

Our neighborhood had an Easter Egg Hunt and get together with face painting, train rides and lots of friends.  Ava liked looking at the Easter bunny, but she did not want to go near him.  She did sit absolutely still for getting her face painted when she found out she could pick the Princess design.IMG_5878

We also had a cheetah and a leopard

Ava only wanted purple eggs

Then the older girls got a chance

Then there was the train ride with Caitlin and Kennedy where all of the adults were informed that we were not allowed to go with them.  Not because that was the rules of the train, but because the girls all wanted to go by themselves.

It was great fun and we will get to do it all over again this weekend for Easter.
