Anna is having so much fun in Kindergarten. They had the school carnival a few weeks ago and she climbed to the top of the rock climbing wall - I don't know if I could have done it. The whole way home she talked about rock climbing and how much she loves it, maybe we will have to look into that Canyons place... She has been going to reading tutoring at school and it has really helped. She is able to ready books by herself and is sounding out some pretty big words, we are so proud of how far she has come. Her writing and math are also very good and she is definitely my daughter - speeds through everything and doesn't necessarily read the directions - we will have to work on that. Anna decided that she didn't want to take tap or ballet next year, so instead she will be in Hip-Hop. This is going to be interesting! She is still playing soccer and has really grown in her willingness to get into the game. Since she has scored a goal, I think her confidence has increased and she is enjoying it more. One of these weekends when we have some free time, yeah right, we are going to take the training wheels of her bike and start working on that. We may have to bring my mom over to help out since she taught about 90% of the kids in our neighborhood growing up how to ride a bike :) Anna's school also had their Kindergarten performance - Getting Down with Mama Goose. Anna did a great job and had lots of fun singing all the songs.
McKenna is such a bundle of energy. She played all 4 quarters in her last soccer game because we were down 3 girls and scored 9 goals!!! She was beside herself with excitment. She loves soccer and is getting very good at controlling the ball. She wasn't sure about taking dance again, but decided that even though she can't take hip-hop, she isn't old enough, she will take tap and ballet again next year. I love the dance recitals, so I am happy that they are both taking again. McKenna is writing very well - she knows all of her upper and lower case letters and her teachers tell us she is brillant (and who are we to argue?) She is enjoying preschool, but she may not be thrilled when she finds out she is going to go 4 days a week next year. She likes getting to spend time at home with Ava and the nanny.
We had a couple of very busy weekends of Easter activities. The church McKenna's preschool is at had a big Easter event, so we went with the Mungay's and Rosser's and had a lot of fun. Sitto and Jiddo's community also had an Easter Egg hunt and the girls had a great time collecting a TON of eggs. Then on Easter Sunday, we went to mass, where the girls looked beautiful in their dresses but I managed to not get one good picture of them! After that, it was on to Grandma and Grandpas. We had another hunt, but in this one the girls had to read clues and follow them through the house to find the next one and so on until they found the huge Golden Egg. This was a big hit and I think it will have to be an ongoing tradition. Ava enjoyed taking Sitto for a walk around the house and Anna and McKenna spent the better part of the day playing with Uncle Mike. Nicole came in from CA on Friday and the first thing Anna asked was if she was going to be here for Anna's birthday - she does know how to guilt people into doing things! The girls had so much fun with Uncle Mike and Nicole and they were very sad to see them go, but I am pretty sure Anna had them promising to come back soon. On Tuesday, I took most of the Easter candy to work for all of the people I work with who don't have candy - the girls gladly give the candy away when they think others don't have any - and there is still plenty at the house for them to get the occasional sugar high :) As always, I will try to post more frequently - thank you Nancy for giving me a hard time :) and enjoy the pictures!
