Jenny and Mitch Got Engaged!!!

IMG_6202

This weekend Jenny, my sister, and Mitch got engaged! :) Now, I knew it was coming as Mitch had asked if it was okay if he popped the question at my house with the whole family there for a Memorial Day barbeque. I, of course, said he could, so I was trying to have the camera ready without being too obvious that I was trying to have the camera ready. Here are a couple of shots I took while waiting for Mitch to GET TO IT ALREADY!!!

The girls are very excited as they will all be flower girls in the wedding, and I will be maid of honor (I know it is technically matron of honor, but that just sounds blah, so we will go with maid!).

The wedding will take place on November 20, 2010, which is mine and Patrick’s 11th anniversary. The Thanksgiving-ish weekend is pretty significant in our family – my mom and dad’s anniversary is Nov. 22 and now both Jenny and I will share the 20th, and Patrick’s brother, Mike, and Nicole are Nov. 25, so lots and lots of Thanksgiving weddings! This summer will be filled with Brides magazines, looking for dresses and trying to get this wedding planned. We are very excited to be welcoming Mitch to our family and we wish Jenny and Mitch and wonderful life together!

McKenna’s Preschool Graduation

IMG_6123

Today was McKenna’s last day of preschool, and boy is she ready to start Kindergarten!  She asked if she got to go next week, and was a little sad when I told her she had to wait until August.  Her school has a really cute little performance where the kids sing some songs that they have been working on, then they each get called up to accept their certificate from the teachers.  McKenna had a ball singing all of the songs and she took a nice bow after receiving her certificate.

Walking for the Cure

Let me first say – THANK YOU!!!  Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and prayed for me as I begin this amazing journey to the Susan G. Komen 3-Day.  I will be walking with several thousand people, but there will be about 25 on my team – Ta-Ta Towing.  There are several women and men from my neighborhood, friends from the hospital playgroup I joined with Anna and others who I haven’t met yet.  I am planning on posting what training activities are on-going as well as other updates as we get closer to the walk starting on Nov. 5, 2010.  We have our kick-off walk in a couple of weeks, and I keep telling myself I should start walking at least 3 miles in the evenings, but I haven’t started that yet.  Maybe posting that I should be doing it will get me motivated to do it, tomorrow :)  Please check out the official website for the event: http://www.the3day.org

I will check back with you soon, hopefully with a training update!  Have a great evening.

Footloose and Fancy Free

Both Anna and McKenna are riding bikes with NO WHEELS!!!  It took lots of false starts and running up and down the sidewalk, but they have both figured it out.  We owe a lot of this to our wonderful nanny, Mayu, as she has been working with them after school most days as well!  The hardest part is getting started going up the ‘hill’ that is out street.  It isn’t huge, but it does pose a challenge.  Since we won’t let the girls ride in the street, they swerve back and forth on the sidewalk trying to get enough speed to keep their balance – sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

The girls are pretty proud of themselves and now want to ride their bikes everywhere.  It may be time for me to get a bike…

McKenna wanted to make sure I took a picture of her riding in the grass :)

This makes bike riding much easier for Patrick and I as we no longer have to run up and down the sidewalk.  Now we might need the exercise, but we will just have to find it some other way.
