Happy Easter!

All in all it was a pretty good Easter weekend.  We started Saturday out with softball and soccer.  Anna and Ava got to go to their great-grandparents place for lunch and an Easter Egg Hunt (McKenna and I had a soccer game).  They had a great time and Anna found the golden egg again this year.  The reward was a huge package of Pez, so all the girls were thrilled.

Our friend, Ashley, gave us a really neat recipe for Easter cookies that you make and read scripture passages for each of the steps.  It tells the story of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection.  You leave the cookies over night and when you open the tomb (the oven) and take a bite of the cookie, it is hollow inside to parallel the tomb being empty Easter morning.  The idea was really neat, and the girls enjoyed the whole process and reading the Bible, but our cookies didn’t actually turn out correctly.  You are supposed to beat the egg whites for 15 minutes, until they are stiff, but ours never really got stiff, and I beat those egg whites for much longer than 15 minutes.  Oh well, I still think the girls got the idea and we will try it again next year!

On Sunday, we went to Mass with several hundred other people.  We stood because we got there just before the service started.  The girls were doing really well until Ava asked to be picked up.  Then she tells me, in a very loud voice, ‘I poop! I poop!’.  That got the attention of several people around us.  Luckily, she hadn’t actually pooped, so it was all good, but still slightly embarrassing!

My mom was going to join us at Patrick’s parents house for dinner, but she had a little incident with my sister’s dog, so she ended up staying home.  After that excitement, we headed over for dinner.  The girls had another egg hunt, where they follow clues around the house and find a huge, golden egg.

We had lots of fun and the girls are still enjoying a chocolate high, but have been pretty good about asking for candy.  We hope you enjoyed your Easter weekend!
