Birthday Party Fun

I forget how tiring a birthday party at the house can be! We had a wonderful time celebrating Ava's birthday with family and friends. Anna and McKenna helped get the house ready for the party - putting the table cloth on the table and asking about 150 times if it was time for the people to get here. The girls loved playing hostess as everyone arrived and were not shy about getting the eating started. Ava took a good nap, and I woke her up just as the first guests arrived. She did pretty well during the party, with the exception of the screaming whenever she wasn't actually sitting on the slide she received for her birthday.

Ava got lots of new clothes and her very own 'Time Out' chair - which, if the screaming when she doesn't get her way continues, will get lots of use! Anna and McKenna have matching chairs, but they think the timer and the rocking chair are lots of fun, so I don't think they get the full impact of being in a timeout - super nanny would not approve! Anna and McKenna had more fun with Ava's new toys then the 1 year olds at the party, figures.
Didn't that toy say 12 month?

The cake the girls and I made tasted pretty good, but it was a little lopsided - the book said nothing about how to correct that, so after watching many episodes of 'Ace of Cakes', I just shoved cannoli forms into the base and top and it didn't fall over :)

Look ma, no hands!

We were able to take some pictures at Anna's soccer game this weekend. Anna has really come a long way in just one season, and really goes after the ball now. She isn't afraid to get in the middle of the game and kick the ball. This was the first time she has scored, and she was so excited. It is so much fun to see the girls grow and really understand the game. We played this team last season and they pretty much ran the ball and scored on most plays. This time there were only 4 or 5 goals scored the entire game ( we don't actually keep score, but we didn't lose ;) this time. Anna is taking the 'guard the goal' to heart and loves stopping the opponents' ball from going in.
Shoot...

and SCORE!!!
