We had a big week last week - Ava's 2 week check-up and the sugar high that is Easter! Here are Ava's stats: Weight 6 lbs 10 oz (she is 1 oz over her birth weight!), height 20 in and head 35 cm. We had to do the second newborn screen, but hopefully that is the last time she will have to get her heel pricked for a long time - that is how they took the blood for all of her bili level tests. She did have her bili level taken one last time, and it came back at 15.5 - I thought it seemed high still, but the nurse said Dr. B wasn't worried, so if he isn't, I guess I won't be! Dr. B said she looks great and that we can let her go as long as she wants between feedings at night! Ava was so inspired by her friend Claire who decided to sleep in her bassinet all night (for only 1 night it seems) that Ava also slept all night in her bassinet. She didn't know that Claire only did it the one night, so she gave us a couple of nights, but she was REALLY fussy last night, so I caved and she spent quite a bit of time sleeping on my chest. Other than that, she is doing great. Eating well, and we are starting tummy time which so far she is tolerating much better than either Anna or McKenna. No full baths yet because her umbilical cord still hasn't fallen off, maybe this week - the girl needs a good bath! :)
Now, on to the fun of Easter. On Saturday, we went to Eldarodo with grandma and grandpa Clerkin to see the Easter bunny, get faces painted, decorate cookies, have an Easter egg hunt, and eat breakfast. The girls had such a great time. They are not afraid of characters, but they always point out the little kids who are crying! They sat in the Easter bunny's lap and thought it was great fun. They also decided that Easter egg hunts are lots of fun, so we have been hiding eggs in the house for 3 days now! They don't care that there isn't any candy in the eggs anymore, they will just hide them for each other and laugh as they search for them. Aunt Jenny helped us color eggs outside - it was a beautiful day. The girls love making chocolate chip cookies, so we made cookies to take over for Easter dinner and we may have left a few out for daddy to have when he got home from Vegas.
Sunday morning we went to mass and then had grandma Franz and Aunt Jenny over for several more egg hunts. Then, both the Franz and Clerkin families got together for Easter dinner. We had a great time playing games and eating - and more egg hunts! It was a great weekend, and hopefully the girls realized the importance of Jesus in Easter and not just eggs...
