Random Update

Both Anna and McKenna are still playing soccer and McKenna has decided to join an academy team this year as well as continuing to play rec soccer with the Pixies.  Our weekends are filled with soccer games, but M also found some time to lose her first tooth!!!

Horns and Pixies are going strong this season.  Both teams are really improving on their skills and the girls love playing!  As you can see by the first picture, teams are starting to get a little more pushy – forget the fact that Anna only comes up to this girls shoulder! ;-)

McKenna also volunteered at school when the ‘snake man’ was there.  These are the pictures her teacher sent me later that day!  She has 2 boa constrictors around her head and neck!!!! yuck :-O

Nicole’s Baby Shower – San Diego

Linda and I spent 4 days together in San Diego (she stayed out for another week to get some time with Mike and Nicole).  We were lucky to get to stay at Linda’s brother, Rich’s (aka ‘Great’) house.  His wife, Jackie, let us use her house for the shower, and it was just great!  We spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning shopping, decorating, making flower arrangements and some food for the occasion.  Jackie’s daughter, Nicole (not the same Nicole having the baby, confusing, I know) was also in town from Miami, where she is taking classes to be a nurse.  So we had a big ol’ girls’ weekend at the house!

On Saturday, we had the shower, and lots of Nicole’s family and friends were able to attend.  Unfortunately, her mom was sick, so I didn’t get to see Paula this trip :(

I am so excited that Mike and Nicole asked me to be Mykaela’s Godmother.  We can’t wait to meet Mykaela Nikole Clerkin in just 8 short weeks!!!

Spring Break San Antonio

Road Trip!!!  This year, we vacationed with 2 great family friends of ours – the Eder’s and the Zander’s!  Our kids are all very close in age, they get along great and the moms and dads all have fun together, so it was a perfect match!  Kyle Z. had to miss due to work, so Jennifer brought her kiddos and the adults just kept counting kids (5 adults, 9 kids was the final breakdown!!!).

The Clerkin’s and Eder’s arrived on Saturday afternoon and set out for dinner on the Riverwalk.  The oldest girls had their hearts set on Rain Forest Cafe for dinner.  After a short 2 HOUR WAIT, we were finally getting dinner.  The food was less than stellar, but the company was great!

On Sunday, we had a great day to the San Antonio Zoo.  We ran into The Rosser’s also in town for Spring Break, talk about a small world :)  It was perfect weather for the zoo and the girls loved all the animals.  We stayed through lunch and saw everything we wanted to!

Dad’s giving the kids the ‘stay together, don’t go off with anyone’ speech:

This komodo dragon loved the spotlight, he would follow people around the glass.  The girls loved having him in their picture!

Same for the snakes!

Anna’s favorite animal – looks like a cross between a horse, zebra and giraffe.

After the zoo, we headed back to the hotel for a quick break then walked to the Alamo.  You aren’t allowed to take pictures in the Alamo, so we got a few outside on the grounds.  Ava fell asleep while we were waiting in line.

About an hour later, the Zander’s arrived in town.  So we had another ‘stay together’ talk and were off for dinner at a pizza joint and Ben and Jerry’s for dessert!

Monday we tackled Sea World.  It was actually pretty cold until about noon, but it worked out ok.  We saw Shamu, which the kids all LOVED, and Azul which they thought was cool, but not quite as good.  Then we headed over to feed the dolphins.  This was pretty cool and except for Ava who was afraid of them, the other kids really enjoyed feeding them.  Then it was lunch, log ride, ice cream and then we had spent the entire day!  It was a lot of fun, but we all agreed it would have been worth it to spend $25 a person to skip the lines at the rides.

The trip was wonderful.  The kids were all great while we were out, and we even managed hotel sleepovers with the big and little girls and everyone did great!  Definitely a great trip all around!
